What gears are the best for me?
I'd like to know what gears are best for me, I want the best for 1/4 mile and street. I have a 92 camaro with a 350 Edelbrock 60cc heads and a holley stealth ram with 24lb injectors, 58mm tb, lunati .480 lift cam 230 dur.,and a jasper 700r4 trans with a 2400 stall and a manual shift body installed. the car has 2.73 gears and i shift out of 2nd at 95 mph. I have a set of 4.11 gears in my garage, what do u think?

YES, agreed. Thats what I have. If you jump up to 4.10's you will be in 4th gear by the end of the 1/4 mile. 3.73's will keep you in 3rd gear.

Based on my experience, the 3.4 series gears work best with a long tube TPI set up. The 3.7 gears are best suited to a high revving manifold like a MiniRam or LT1. The TPI is all torque so you want to take as much advantage of that as you can.

How high do you want to rev the engine? The stealth ram will easily support an engine that can rev to 6500 RPM. If your engine is still pulling strong at 6000 to 6500 RPM (and the engine is built to take 6500 RPM) then use the 4.11 gears.
6000 RPM with 4.11 gears assuming .95% convertor efficiency, 25.8 Dia tire is 106.5 MPH.
6500 RPM with 4.11 gears assuming .95% convertor efficiency, 25.8 Dia tire is 115 MPH.

I took my engine up to 6500 rpm's and it feels like its still pulling but im afraid to push it too far with the bottom end i have because its only a 2 bolt main from my 86 corvette and im not sure how much it will take but i'd like to shift around 6000. Another ? is if i do put 4.11 gears in can't i just shift into 4th gear if i need to at the track, wouldn't that be the quicker than staying in 3rd with 3.73 gears?
