Maf problem?....no code

OK so I drive the car one night, runs great. Next day it starts a little sluggishly but runs ok and idles good. I drove a few minutes and got on it a bit to pass someone and it just hits a wall. Still idles and will run under normal driving conditions (a little rough) but if I even think about getting on it, it will fall on its face. Good (45PSI) fuel pressure and no codes. if I throw my snap on scanner on it I get no codes and the map and maf signals are the same and correspond as I come off idle. This tells me the maf is sending a signal to the ecm (?). If I unplug the maf the hesitation is gone and the check engine light comes on. If the maf is the problem how come I'm not getting a code?

Anyone?........Vader?? I did a search but found nothing relating to this sort of issue. No code 33,34, nothing. Don't really want to invest in another maf sensor if I don't have to. Is it alot of work/expense to swap to SD?

you can get another Maf for like $160 or less, FAR less if you try Ebay or the classifieds here. I'd do that before going to a full SD swap.
