Another cam suggestion thread
I've been doing some research and reading and don't know what works in the real world. I'm a lot more familiar with the LS1 world and what camshafts can be run in them with decent driveability, but don't know what the TPI computer can be programed to work with.
Some background info. 72 GMC pickup ~3900 lbs, 3.73 gears ~27" tires (not sure what tires I'm going with right now). The primary purpose of the vehicle will be car shows and bracket racing, so I can get a little wild here
~3400 stall.
The rest of the engine: .030 over 350 with forged pistons (stock rods and crank hopefully). ~10:1. Small vortec bowtie heads w/ beehive springs along with the vortec HSR intake.
I've been looking at all kinds of heads and I really don't know how big I can go. I was thinking the comp cams 08-433-8 cam looks like it might fit my application (236/242 .520/.540 on a 110 LSA). It seems kinda wild compared to what most on here are running on the street....but will it work in my application. Or is there something better that will work? I'm going to do other supporting mods too, depending on the needs (larger TB, larger injectors, 1 3/4 headers, 3" exhaust, ignition upgrade, etc, etc)
Oh yeah, I'm planning on shifting at 6500rpms.
Thanks

thunder racing cams
take a look at these, the lsa is a little more computer freindly.
Thunder Racing - Camshafts for your 1982-1992 F-Body
for your motor id look into the 467 or the 468
of course make sure that your valve springs can handle the lift of whichever cam you choose.

I heard some bad things about the XFI lobes....I was told to stay away from them cause they're real hard on springs.
I did hear great things about the "GM 847" cam 232/242 .539/.558(1.5 rocker arms) 112 (part # 12370847). But its an LT1 cam....don't think that's a problem though.
