Is it worth all the trouble port matching stock heads porting stock plenum and siamesing stock runners if you have stock LB9 5.0? I only have minor upgrades (shown below) and i am going to get a chip burned soon.... and does anywone have some numbers and pics of a mildly modified engine and the porting process shown in detail? ( notice I said stock many times I want to keep cost to bear minimum)
any help woould be aprecieated

I really don't think that it would be worth it. Someone else just made a thread basically asking this, and I'll tell you what I told them:
Unless you are taking off the intake for a reason, it's really not worth the hassle. You have 2 things going against you in terms of porting being effective:
You are running the 5.0
You dont have the modifications that would require more airflow (heads and cam)
So your gains would be minimal, and not really worth taking a weekend and dedicating it solely to porting a stock intake. Wait until you put a set of heads on the motor, when the intake NEEDS to be taken off you know?
But hell, if you have the time, go for it. You might see 10hp if you are lucky, but closer to 5hp from what I have seen around.

IMO the better an engine breathes the better it will run. Youll see a small gain from your current mods. Its really your call if you want to do it or not. But if your going to tear into why not get an aftermarket set of runner and port match to them. Cost for aftermarket runners is not all that much and youll see a real nice gain after the work is done.
Intake porting
This is my porting stuff, heads are in the next section. I just wanted to have you consider something before you go along with porting the heads and intake. To really do it right (new head bolts, new head gaskets intake gaskets etc) expect to spend $150 if you REALLY do it right. I got a set of 305 HGs off ebay for $35, a set of bolts for $35, the runner gaskets cost me $20 the valve springs were another 35 and probably some misc. stuff thrown in there. Honestly, if you were in there I"d just do the cam while you're at it. If you do h/C/I you'll be surprised how far it'll take you probably.

At least do the plenum and runners. I siamesed my plenum and radiused the runners and gained a tenth in the 8th and quarter on a 350 after another member on here claimed to have gotten 2 tenths out of the same mods on a 305. Take out the EGR walls and at least radius the dividers, it takes about an hour with a die grinder, is good experience, and will help your car out. I just did the base, I put a post up with pics comparing the new base to the old one; this was a PAIN but I'm glad i did it because one of my roller lifters was eating up a cam lobe so i'm going to change it out and try to get one more pass in this season. The base is alot more entailed but I'de say there's good gains to be had there. Look for my post, i have pics of my stock heads; you can see how big of a restriction they are. None the less porting is free minus the time and the gaskets, and you will notice a difference if those are your current bottle neck (which they will be after gutting the air box, installing good filters, and opening the exhaust).

Re: to port or not to port...
Definitely invest the time to do it all.
You've gone to a hella' lot of trouble to take your 100 horsepower into something with Pitbull teeth. I bet you have a great time shutting down unsuspecting road racers!
I cut my hot rodding 'teeth' (so to speak) on a 1988 Toyota pickup with the 103hp 22r engine. Mechanics would scratch their heads and laugh at me for spending vast amounts of time and effort to gain 2-5 horsepower out of an upgrade or modification. I don't know how many times I heard 'proffesionals' tell me that 'I won't even feel that small amount of horsepower'. But when I was done, I had a sleeper minitruck that would turn and stop on a dime, shut down stock mustang/camaro's, easily burn rubber in 2nd gear, embarass other show-off drivers, and never broke down in 200,000 miles. Every little bit helps and I think what you're doing with your truck is fantastik!!!! However, you already know that and don't need me to tell you to keep on kicking a$$!!!
WOW!!! Was that porting attatchment full of EXCELLENT info or what!!!!!
Have you got any good pic's of your 'monster truck'???
