Do you have to take the valve covers off to install the lower runner bolts? It was tight before but now I can't do it. My vavle covers are about 1/4" taller than stock. I think that definitely doesn't help my cause

ya. and you will have VC problems. I had to trim the lip to get the covers between my pro mags and runners.

Narrow or not its the clearance between the top of the rocker and the runners. I accually had to grind where each rocker was hitting the valve cover rail on the my valve covers so it would slip by without scratching the runners.

I understand what you are saying but I don't have that problem. I installed one runner and was able to easily put the valve cover back on without any clearance issue. So your cover/rocker combo is the problem. Are you using stock valve covers?

No. Both my Miloden and my GM PP valve covers did the same thing.
