I wanted to thank you for the information about the fuel pump and relay i replaced the relay and the mass air flow sensor and i checked the fuel pump and it is coming on so now the car turns over 5 to 6 times starts instead of 25 to 30 but it will not idle on its own i had to adjust the idle up to keep it running i think tha might be old gas but not sure the service engine light still does not light when the key is in the on position any idea what could be causing this thanx again for all your help

Yea, a lot of times people take out the bulb or break it so the light isn't on. If your doesn't light up with the key on engine off, thats probably the case.

yeah thats the way my 88 L98 is, but unless you have ALL of the original smog equipment still on there its going to stay on
