Idle problems
I have a 1986 Trans AM V8 5.0 FI TPI. My car's idle is way off! My gauge needle jumps back n forth gasping for air or something and then dies/stalls after 15 seconds unless I give it gas and drive it. I've checked the vacuum lines and I just cleaned my plenum and put in new gaskets. Does anyone think all I have to do is clean/replace my IAC sensor or what? Has anyone had this problem before and what did you do to fix it?

Try cleaning the IAC and do the adjustment procedure. Seems to be the cause of a lot of idle issues. Badman

thanks
thanks I already had the battery unplugged from doing other repairs to replacing the EGR Valve and Solenoid and cleaning the plenum. I will try cleaning my IAC and the idle speed setting procedures. I just want ideas thrown out there that I haven't thought of yet and if I need to start looking into other possible causes for my idle being way off.
Thanks
Thanks
