NO SPARK WHEN HOT 5.0 TPI!!!
I am working on a 1987 Z-28 5.0 TPI that looses spark when hot. I checked the coil for power and it was good. So I replaced the coil and it fired right up. I let it run for about 20min. and it stalled. I checked it for spark and nothing. Any info would be great.
Thanks Frank

It could be something else, but that sounds like a typical ignition control module failing when it gets hot. Does the car start right up after it cools down?
Ignition module or bad pickup coil are the 2 usual suspects left on the short list. You might want to just swipe a complete junkard distributor and drop it in there. It's always good to have a spare, even if you don't end up needing it right away.
I think they had the small cap HEI in 87 (first year for it), and those same distributors were used on TONS of Chevys with small block V8s for many years after (Caprices, trucks, etc. up through the early 90s). Should be easy to find one for cheap in good condition.

although i woulda started with the coil too, if that failed i would start looking at your wires. youd better be runnin MSD or better wires because cheap ones fail in high tempuratures and at high rpm too. and if you replace the wires or not, make sure they are clear of high temp parts and are routed nicely.

pickup coil
ignition module
Most likely suspectsd easly
Possible cylinder head grounds (check them and clean and reinstall), alos bad injectors tend to get hot and short the drivers, then work again when cooled.

I also vote the ignition module, I'de mark everything, pull the distributor and change the pickup coil whlile you're at it.

It ended up being a bad connection with the wires going to the coil. I replaced both conectors and it works perfect.
Thanks for everyone's input and advice.
