100% stock 89 GTA vert, 62k miles, 14.965 @ 93.07. It could have used a tuneup and would have run faster.

Those are some pretty good times for pretty stock 350 TPIs.
I havn't been able to take mine to the track yet, but hopefully next year.
I am curious to see how my 1le will do. Its pretty much stock besides compcam, cat back, gutted air, and all things that 1les came with. Even though its not really set up for 1/4, I am still excited to run it at the track.

I call it stock because everything from throttle body to oil pan on the long block is still factory original. I borrowed calling a TH350 stock from LS1tech where the quickest stock LS1 in the country had a TH350 that was considered a bolt on I know it's still in the grey area of completely stock with headers, ignition, and such but until I swap something primary that's my story and I'm stickin to it I used to have a .070 jet on the nitrous side (NOS calls this a 150 shot) I upped to a .073 jet with a .043 on the fuel side, car seems to like that. I pulled ALOT of timing out because I didn't have any good gas on hand and didn't purge. With a combo of 2 degrees more timing, some 110 octane 93 mix, and purging in the burn out box I think I could've got the car to make an 11 second pass that day. I'll give it another shot this coming spring, lets hope the weather stays cool and mild.

'88 GTA with a ported MAF, headers, flowmaster 80 series, and some freshened stock heads (I had some work done cause of the normal valve stem problem). I went 14.39 @ 98mph. That was on a street tire with a 2.36 60'. Would have easily broke the 13's with a sticky tire, and combine that with a converter and I would have been well into the 13's.

That was my plan after the summer I went 14.3. I wanted a 13 second slip from my stock L98. So I ordered a set of nitto's and a TCI 3000 stall. Then someone mentioned to me, "why dont you build a stroker motor and skip the 13's all together!". Looking at my sig you can guess what I did!

Sometimes I wish I had stuck with my plan though cause I would have liked to have that 13 second slip from my L98.

14.3@96 Hooker 2055's, Hooker Y pipe, stock catback with an 80 series muffler, 2.1 60ft.

Then I added a AFPR (49 psi), gutted airbox, and bumped my timing to 10. And ran a 14.3@96. No difference at all.

15.41 at 89.81 mph with a 2.31 60 foot. I was running horribly dry-bald street tires and worn spark plugs. My next outing should be better since I've added fresh plugs, Riken Raptor tires, an airfoil, Accel ignition module, and I descreened the MAF. The colder air should help a bit too.

No, IMO, TPI only refers to long tube runner set-ups.

I ran my old L98 '88 GTA once. Best run out of 3 was 14.9@93mph. I did a burnout on this run, and it helped the launch a bit.

Mods were cut filter can and K&N, Dynomax cat-back, and underdrive pulleys.

It had 103k on it,and I'm sure it needed a tune-up. It was also about to overheat, thanks to a hot day and slow staging.

That was back in 2000, I really miss that car, I ought to pick up another one.

Good luck! FWIW, it’s not as simple as just slapping some parts together and running the number. counting thorugh my run log, looks like I took 39 passes figuring out exactly how and where everything was the happiest, and this is someone that has literally made hundreds of passes before that.

13.706 @ 102.059 MPH. Medicore traction on worn Dunlop fm901 tires at 2.084 60ft. 1990 Corvette L98, all stock internals, CAI, 1 5/8 blockhuggers, 2.5" duals, a tune by TraviZ, and nice shifts so I can drive my WC T5 backed Nova home. I am hoping to hit 12s with a Gforce T5, 1.6 RR, and ported intake with AS&M runners to come by the end of summer.

Got my combo down to 12.55 @ 107.87. My best mph has been a 110.96. Still playing with the burnout and tirepressure.

ok its real hard to believe this when this guy below ran a slower time with more mods. the guy i quoted on the bottom has an *** load of mods. so i guess you have some leprechaun motor. like you rub it and it gains power. in my personal experience with the tpi motor they just don't gain power from the mods you listed. sorry. your gonna need more than that.

and i believe this.

my old 305 tpi mods
LT headers
Full magnaflow 3 inch exhaust
comp cams tpi cam lift was like 502/510 lift with a 114 lsa and duration was like 224/224
1.6 roller rockers
built trans stock stall
modded air box
no air pump
bbk afpr set at 45 psi
air foil
3:42 gears
mass air sensor gutted
k&n filters
relocated IAT sensor to air box
the list goes on

best time with flowmaster muffler only stock everything was a 15.3@88 mph w/2.0 60ft
best time with all those ****ing mods 15.4@90mph w/2.1 60ft
all that **** did NOTHING to the car. i did everything right. stock tune. someone told me that a tune would make the car come alive. i didn't believe it.
so i got tired of dumping money into a car that wasn't getting faster so i sold the ****er and got into turbo dodges. hell my shadow with stock head, cam, bottom end, block, fuel pump, computer and turbo ran a 13.9@99 through an auto and on a hot *** day.
mods are (i bought it from a friend modded already)
2.2 SOHC
AFPR
little bigger injectors
rising rate regulator

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

Well i dont have a 350, my car has the stock lb9 with a couple of extras, and it ran 14.016 @ 97.39 mph on stock rims and tires. Should have a new 355 crate motor in a bit, so will see how that does soon.

14.10 at almost 99 with my 89 L98 car. It had flowmaster cat back, cat delete, air delete, air foil, tbc bypass, cai, riken raptor rear tires, and some other petty enhancements.... With a set of headers, stall converter, and slicks..... I don't think mid 13's would be out of the question.

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

My '90 GTA L98 is 100 percent stock.

I've only done 5 runs with it.. Our local track had a Test 'n Tune one day so I went out just to see what she'd do.

My best that day was 14.84 @ 92.677

I was having some serious trouble hooking up.. The time I posted above had the least wheel spin.. I think with better tires (Or better driving ) I could have been running around 14.5 seconds.

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

In 2004, my completely stock, fully loaded 1991 L98 went 14.56 at 94 mph, street tires with a 2.1 60'. The only thing it had was a flowmaster muffler, and a k&n filter (but I had practiced racing it all that summer.)

Early 2005, I added a TPIs intake manifold, edelbrock runners, all ported, and a better flowing but not larger exhaust. Got a 14.23 at 96 mph another 2.1 60'. Street tires.

In late 05 I went to the dyno and it got 255 rwhp and 319 tq.

in early 2006 I added 52 mm TB, headers, full exhaust (2 3/4,) and a 2400 stall tq converter. Got a 13.97 at 97 mph, with a 1.9 60' (had to give up street tires)

Hadn't raced since last July, in December the old motor gave up (220 k miles).

Latest mods are same as above, rebuilt trans, rebuilt 350, Corvette heads, zz9 cam and had everything ported to match and extrude honed. Still running original rear end 3.23s, same ol' flowmaster. Last week, ran 13.39 at 100 mph, 1.9 60'.

Still needs a lot of tuning, maybe with a new rear end, hoping for 12's by the end of the year.

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

One, thing along with the stall converter to et me out of the hole quicker was putting lakewood trailing arms and spohn panhard rod on, plus i put the tires at 22psi, with out that stuff i had a 2.332 60' with the mods, i had a 1.861 60' considerably better the before. This is for anyone having trouble out of the gate.

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

14.21 @ 95 mph. 1.98 60ft. 87 L98, 3.27 gears, 200k+ miles on it. Only additions were - Older Flowmaster with 2 on the left, descreened MAF, SLP converter, B&M shift kit, TB by pass, gutted airbox, No AC. Stock suspension, goodyear Eagle GSCs.

The next summer I put the same engine into an 86 Firebird with a T5 and 3.23 gears and ran 14.3 @ 95 on a 1.99 60ft.. stock V6 suspension and goodyear eagle GSCs.

Of course the current car has never been faster than 14.7@ 93mph. did that with the 2.77s and 3.27s. Hopefully it'll be at the track next month after finally getting the T56 rebuilt and the Dana installed.

Re: Fastest 350 TPI ET's.

Best I recall was a 14.2 at 103.9mph. Stock heads, stock throttle body, holley stealth ram with pos fuel pressure regulator(always rich)(actually this might have been with the tpi intake i don't recall), gmpp cam 480 lift 235 dur. at .500,1 3/4 in headers, 3in flowmaster force II, stock air intake with cone filter at the end.

I really thought more people would be hitting mid 13's with these cars.
