What distributor can i use? noob needs help!
hi, i have a sbc in a second gen rx7.. i have an opportunity to buy a 305 tpi motor and tranny and all the goods.... i would like to do this, but it is from a 85 camaro.. and i read that it will use the larger hei distributor, is there a way to use the newer tpi small cap distributor, like rewire it or are they totally different? thanks, Quint

Transmission: built 700R4 Auto
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt 3.73
Because you have an 85 TPI setup, you will have to use the large cap distributor because 85 used a completely different setup than the 86 to 89 and the 90 to 92.
If you get a new wiring harness, computer, and the small cap distributor for an 87 to 88, you can still use you motor with MAF.
