Serpentine Conversion Question
Hello,
I bought a serpentine setup off of a 90 305 Camaro for my 87 305. Aside from extending the wiring since the A/C and alternator switch sides and using the newer accessories (i.e. water pump), will I run into any other issues? Are the fuel lines different for a serpentine setup as opposed to the v-belt setup? Are there any other components that will need to be moved or might interfere? Any help is appreciated.

Did you get the power steering pump too? The one on your car is clocked differently, so you'll need the '90 PS pump. As you mentioned, you'll need to extend the wiring for the Alt. and AC. The other connections for the AIR pump are the same, as far as I know. I started with an '87 TPI Camaro harness, and added the serp setup off an '89 (I think) T/A. Worked out just fine!

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I have the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and AIR pump all for a 90. It looks like everything for the AIR system will work fine but before I start I'm curious about fuel lines, vacuum lines, and anything else I might have overlooked or not known about.

The only other diference is the hard fuel lines on the front of the engine. The hard lines go from the rubber ones on the frame to the fuel rail on the engine. The serp ones are bent slighly different and have a clap that attach them to the alt/PS bracket. You can pick them up from TPIparts.net.

You'll have no issues with the vacuum lines, since nothing goes in that direction. You might even be able to reuse the existing fuel lines. I have the stock '87 lines coming out of the fuel rail and was able to fit the serpentine bracket with just a few minor tweaks.
