Bogging?

ok so i think my problem could be one of a couple things... but before i go out buying random parts i wanted to get some input from yall as well.

so every now and then ill be driving my car and the check engine light will come on, doesnt seem to hurt the performance of my motor at all... but it will turn off by itself or just turn off after i turn the car off and start it back up.

also, whenever i give the car gas (maybe half throttle) it feels like a carburator and doesnt have that much power at first, and then a second or two later you feel the car pick up like the fuel pressure was too low.

Ive read about the MAP Sensor and that if its faulty it will cause poor performance, bogging and the check engine light to come on so... do yall think its the MAP Sensor?? and could the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump have something to contribute to this problem?

my 383 has the stock TPI setup, and appears to be the 15yr old OE MAP Sensor

oh yeah and i hooked the OBDI scanner up to my car and it had a EGR code in its history, im not sure if thats the one that pops up when im driving but it was the only one there

Best bet would be to check your codes first.

Re: Bogging?

I actually cut out the entire bottom piece out of the airbox. I will try to take a picture tomorrow. And the MAF works just fine without the screens just make sure you don't mess up the little wire element in there. And always run air filters, not like anyone would run their car with no filters!
