Problems with my Edelbrock install. Here was the issue.

I am most of the way done installing my Edelbrock Base and Runners. I have run into a couple of problems. I thought I would share them. I had problems with the bolt lengths. The four long lower bolts were not long enough. I had ordered a Stainless allen bolt set the same lengths as the originals. Apperently you can't use the factory lower bolts with the Edelbrock runners!? There are onlt like 4 threads showing past the runner. Has anyone run into this problem? I ended up using a spare set of Throttle body bolts in their place. They are very long but did not bottom out. So I thinh it will be fine.

Also I noticed the two center most bolts on the lower part of the runners enter the intake tracks. I am not sure it did this on the stockers and I used Teflon paste on the threads just in case.

That is a bout all the real problems I had. The larger runner made installation harder cause of the limited space they allow to work in.

Thanx for listening to me ramble.

I hope you used the right gaskets between the runners and intake manifold. If not you will have a big air leak.

Yes I did. I used Edelbrock lowers and Mr. Gasket 1.75 uppers. I siamesed my plenum and blended all other ports. I did notice there is alot of play in the runners. I could probably move them (1-2)/16" up or down I fired it up today and it sounded great. It reved fast and hard. I will finish up my install of the Ram Air II box for my hood and go for a drive. I'll let you know how that goes.

Long center bolt in between cyl 5 and 7 passes into coolant. You NEED to put sealant on that bolt.
