finally got my iroc running well sort of

I installed a new pump and hardware and that is what it needed to get it up and running. My question is what would cause it to be hard to start after sitting over night.I checked the fuel pressure it had 45 psi at idle and 40 psi with key on but not running. It doesn't hold fuel pressure very long like 5 sec. after engine is shut down. I bought this car not running so every problem is a new problem to me.

How Long does it crank before it fires? The next time before you start it see if the fuel pump primes it self if it doesn't it could be the relay or the computer. I had an 89 rs that wouldn't start until the oil pressure started to come up, It would start right back up because it will hold fuel pressure for a short while. If the car sat for more than 30 min. it would wait for the oil pressure to build up first before the fuel pump came on. It's a safety feature gm built in. If you lose oil pressure it shuts off the fuel pump to save the engine. so if you fried the computer or relay it waits for the oil pressure to turn the fuel pump on. I hope I didn't lose you.

Re: finally got my iroc running well sort of

you didn't loose me with the info that you provided I can say that I am preatty mech. inclined, but only with what I have expirience with and fuel injection is something that until now i never dealt with. My pump does cycle on with the key to prime the system before fire up and the pressure comes up to 35-40 psi, but it still cranks forever. My pump even runs for a few seconds after the engine is shut down I kinda found that wierd, but it may be normall for all I know . Thanks for the help every time I post a problem I get what seems to be accurate answers so maybe with you guys help I will figure this thing out and might be able to help someone else that may have the same problems in the future.
