All Vortec TPI Swappers...Cooling Question

Ok guys, I'm almost finished with my vortec head swap, and I have to tie up a few loose ends. For those of you who have done the swap, what did you do with the extra cooling port on the front of the manifold? Did you plug it, or did you tee it into a line somewhere? I've included the SDPC instructions below, but they aren't that clear. BTW, I'm using my orignal block, which is from 1988. Any help would be appreciated.

"Special Note: If you are using a 1996 or later Gen 1 Chevrolet block, then you must route a coolant by-pass line from the intake manifold to the water pump. The 1995 and earlier blocks are machined with the by-pass provision in the block. The by-pass line must run to the passenger's side outlet on the water pump using a 5/8" hose."

Re: All Vortec TPI Swappers...Cooling Question

The hole for conventional blocks(pre 96) is already there.

Later blocks dont have it and need the bypass.

Although I've often wondered if a restricted line from the manifold to water pump might help warmup time some.

Thanks,

So I just plug the hole in the manifold with a pipe plug and I'm good to go then?
