Mechanical Temp gage install

Does anyone know where I can put the probe for a mechanical temp gage in my 86 T/A 305 TPI ? I read that if I took the coolant temp gage out that I would have problems there is another sensor right next to it and I believe it is the sending unit for the temp gage Can I put the mechanical gage probe here ? Thanks

Re: Mechanical Temp gage install

go to your local PERFORMANCE auto parts store, ask them for an adapter for your lower radiator hose, just tell them you have EFI,and no plugs accessable for a mechanical temp gauge, its basically just a tube that you splice into your lower radiator hose, and screw the mechanical probe into it.

i had to do this on my dodge ram, works like a charm!
