How do you cut fuel lines through peep hole?

I read a detailed description of how to change a fuel pump by cutting a window above the tank. This was a year or so ago. Now I can not find that thread no matter how hard I look. I have a nice window but need to cut lines without sparks and put in proper hose connections to hook things back up back up. Please help. Thanks!1

Just did this last weekend. Replace the lines from the tank to the rubber fuel hoses. Had to make the 'window' bigger to replace fuel line. First & most important keep the fuel lines sealed to the gas tank = NO VAPORS. What we did is wet towels to put over the fuel lines & surrounding area while using a grinder (4inch cutoff wheel) to cut the metal. Be very careful. We also kept a fire extinguisher close by.

To add the the previous post. Keep the wheel wet as your cutting to avoid sparks & heat. If you ignite the fumes in the top of the tank a fire extinguisher wont help. the fire dept will probabally be picking it up along with your pieces.

I don't think the cutoff wheel is a very good idea. These lines are hard piped right into the tank. There was a long ol' discussion on this and it seems like there was some no spark way to cut these lines...? I know they only cut out a window about 6" X 10". I could cut 'em partly with a little tube cutter and then bend 'em back and forth till they break...maybe..not real tidy..

Axelnut you misunderstood, I suggested replacing the line from the top of the tank to the rubber lines. Using the grinder was only to make the 'window' bigger so you don't have to drop the tank completely (just losen the tank straps & cross bar beneath the the tank).

i just used a hacksaw and did it with a little old fashioned man power..agh agh.. any who just get a hacksaw and cut it, then get some high pressure rubber fuel line and clamp it on to both sides to reconnect the hard lines..
