getting a custome prom for my 86 question about egr.

Ok guys, I have an 86 z28 with a tpi 305. I have removed the air pump, and lines, installed hooker 2055's and plugged the emissions tubes on the headers. I only got these incase I ever need to resue the air pump. Anyway, I will sometimes get a egr code while on the highway, and after TONS of testing, scratching my head, I have come to the conclusion that this has to do with the removal of the AIR pump, as I never had this problem when I had it all hooked up. So, If I get a custom prom through www.tpiparts.net, should I have them turn off the egr AND the AIR pump, or is just the AIR pump enough? If I should have them disable the EGR, will I need to do anything as far as a blockoff plate? Thanks!

If you're going to pay for a custom prom, you might as well have them turn off both in my opinion. Besides, once your car actually does start throwing the infamous code 32 (EGR), it's usually a major PITA to ever get it to go away and stay gone. If you ask me, it's just eliminating one more headache if you have it disabled. Yeah, you should probably either buy a block off plate or just make one. It's easy to fab one up. Just grab a piece of 1/8" thick steel, drill a couple of holes in it for the bolts, and use a bench grinder to make it the proper shape. Just smear a thin layer of rtv on it and bolt it down.

Ok, and the car will run perfectly fine with it all disabled right? I don't want any strange idle, stalling or anything going on. Thanks!
