My cars idle speed is 1500 in park HELP!

Can someone please helpme!?! i have a 1986 Camaro 305 Tpi,when i turn the car on it idles at 1500 rpm's, and in drive it idles at 1000 rpm's, i have a automatic transmission, can someone please give me imformation on how to lower it!!!

There is a good chance your throttle body is sticking as this is a common problem with stock trottle bodies on tpi. The spring has a tendency to wear out and stick in a more open postion.

ok i just ordered a new tv cable and i guess ill have to get a new spring too! and its def not a vacuum problem because you would be able to hear the air leak, it would hiss really loud but thanks anyway for your reply

dj a good way to test this is if it is stuck while you are cruising around if you hit the gas really hard if the idle comes back down. There is always a chance it is your IAC too. Check the spring first it is the easiest thing to check then work towards the electronic parts.

Pull the snorkle off to look at the tb, if it isnt stuck open its probably fine. Check your tps, should be at 5.4v, could be a bad IAC also. There is also that adjustment screw where the throttle cable is.
