Won't idle and sounds bad at high RPMs

How do u check the MAF, i have a scantool, TPS seems ok, as well as IAC, MAF goes up and down with engine load, (don't know what the numbers should be at)~2000 at idle 18,000+ full throttle, the noise it makes sounds like the mufflers rattling(probably pinging) the car won't idle at all when cold and barely stays running when warm. please help.

I just went though a major pain working all the bugs out of the 86 Iroc I bought not running. It had an old bugged chip (86 was the only year model I know of that had that problem)and the MAF sensor relay was going bad causing it to weird out the sensor. The old MAF relays with the part number startings with 14,, seem to have a problem as well accourding to the national service bulletins. Anyway,, I don't know long you've had it and what year model is it,, so this may or may not help you at all. These computer systems are great when working properly but a pain to dx sometimes.

thanks for replying, it's a 89 305 5 speed. It seems to idle/run ok with the A & B grounded, but low on power, w/o that i can't drive it all basically, if anyone knows what sensors it uses with that grounded? or in open loop whatever. thanks
