chuggle

hi all,

i have a 91 tpi. it runs fine when its cold but when warm, it chuggles under low throttle conditions (ie constant speed or mild acceleration). the severity of the 'chuggling' can vary. sometimes it gets so bad the entire car jerks so violently that its not driveable.

-i replaced the iac last year
-i have new plugs & wires

has anyone seen this before? thanks in advance for your help.

Re: chuggle

Welcome Aboard!

What are engine RPM and road speed when this occurs?

Re: chuggle

thanks for the warm welcome! =)

i'd say 2-3k rpms.... can occur at amost any speed depending on the gear (its a 5spd). i've noticed it mostly in the city anywhere from 20-60km/h. haven't been on the highway in the awhile but i'd expect it to act the same.

Re: chuggle

2,000-3,000 RPM? At 20-60KPH? That would lilely still be in 1st or 2nd gear, and chuggle shouldn't be an issue.

Does it occur only at part throttle? If so, the EGR may be opening early ot sticking open.

Re: chuggle

yes it ONLY occurs under part throttle. as soon as i were to give it more gas (1/2 throttle more more), it picks up fine. which seems to rule out fuel. i've noticed it in all gears but i'm tempted to say that its almost less severe in higher gears.

so sticky egr huh?
