I would like to know the same thing. I am also eliminating mine and I know it won't effect the way my car runs. What I do want to know is where should I vent the gas tank to if the canister is junked?

I just left my gas vent open and haven't smelled any fumes yet. I yanked it all out, and didn't notice a difference at all, except a much cleaner looking engine compartment.

the canister is there for a couple purposes:reduce hydrocarbons vented to the atmosphere,ie helps for a cleaner enviroment....plus it helps fuel economy at part throttle by burning the stored hydrocarbons. This is why the feds are getting involved in state emission testing. Most stock cars with emissions run WORSE without the emission controls and get poorer fuel economy ...by the way venting those hydrocarbons into the air ..puts um right in yer lungs

Then just cap the vacume lines that are leftover and vent the vapor tube to the ground?
