not going into closed loop

car will stay in open loop when started even at operating temperature, until the car is shut off and then restarted... it will be in closed loop right when i start the car again


does anyone have any clue what would cause this?

how do you know it's in OL still? Do you have a scanner hoop up to it? If you have, then check CTS for the computer if it's sensding the right voltage to the ECM.

well the car idles at 1000rpm pretty much until the car gets to operating temp and then drops down to 600-700rpm...

the car will stay at 1000rpm even when at operating temp now and ill turn the car off and then back on, and it idles 300rpm lower

edit: also, if the car is already at operating temperature and has been sitting for a little while it will automatically go into closed loop after a few seconds

There is a method to see if the car is in open/closed loop by using the ALDL port.
