Starting Problem, making weird noise

I'm having problems getting my car started. Earlier today when I went to leave my car wouldn't start. It was making some weird clicking noise the first two times I tried to start it. On the third try it started right up. Now tonight when I went to pull it in it starting make that clicking noise. This time it didnt start and still hasn't. Any ideas what this could be? I took some footage of it so you can hear the sound. Its basically a sound clip, no video and theres no visual sparking or arching that I can see. What could this be?

Oh and this is the first time its ever done this.

Re: Starting Problem, making weird noise

i would check your starter, could be the started solonid, on my camaro when it gets to hot it sometimes wont start until it cools. also i would check out your flywheel its possible its missing some teeth and therefor causing the starter to just spin, that could be the noise your hearing. if i were u i would jack the car up and check that out. hope this helps later bud

Re: Starting Problem, making weird noise

Yeah, I thought it could be the starter. It sounded like it was coming from there so I went over next to the starter and had my brother crank it over and the noise started coming from the other side of the car. I don't know, its maybe that its late and I've been helping my bro with his 4th gen rear end swap all day.

The starters pretty new, but I'd rather it be the starter than my flex plate. Oh well I'll check it out in the morning, Thanks for your advice.

Re: Starting Problem, making weird noise

UPDATE:

I tried to start it again today after it sat the whole night, with no luck. I noticed that my voltage was really low, when the key was turned to the on position, not the starting position. So I had my brother give me a jump. The first try it didn't start, but you could tell it wanted to. So I let it charge for a bit more, and on the second try it started up.

Now, is my problem voltage? Could this have been the reason it was making that sound? I'm thinking my battery cant hold a charge anymore, or my alternator isn't charging my battery.

6/30/07: Problem solved. Battery was no good.
