WTF fuel pressure drop?

I had my pressure set at 42 pounds (hose on)and 50psi hose off. I let the car sit in my garage for a week while I worked on it. Today when I started it up today the fuel pressure was reading 35 pounds hose on. (probably 42 hose off).

The car was A LOT faster. I'm sure of it, it wasnt my imagination.

The fuel pressure was at 35 pounds from when the engine was cold.....all the way to operating temp. Could the computer of returned itself to stock setting while it was being stored for a week? THe afpr is brand new, and so is the spring and diaphram.

CAR RUNS GREAT!

ps: i have a digital fp gauge installed in my car.

Always check fuel pressure with the hose off. Engine vacuum varies acording to many things including state of engine tune, temperature & other things. Different vacuum will cause different fuel pressures. Pull the vacuum hose to the regulator to remove that variable and check The pressure then. That is the only way to get reliable, repeatable results.

This indicates that 50psi (hose off) was far too high for you engine and you were running overly rich.

I do notice that you mention "cold". If by that, you meant the air temperature was noticeably colder, then that will also produce more power.

Yesterday, I took a drive up to the Rockies where the temperature was -10C (about 15*F). Even with the altitude, the engine had a lot more passing power than it normally does at sea level just because of the colder air.

I never said the air was cold, but damn your read my mind. It is cooler here. The FP just keeps acting really funny. The car is fast as ***** though. It just keeps pulling. It also may be due to my computer slightly re-adjusting to my ported plenum and cold air.

It can take weeks for the stock PROM to re-adjust sometimes (TPIS insider hints).
