devider in SLP runners...

I noticed that in both left and right runners, one set of tubes has a devider while the other doesn't, and that the devided one is up front on the passenger side while it is outback on the driver side....I took a look at SLP web page and they show the runners having deviders in all tubes...and mine have no trace of having being grinded down...
Any ideas??

I've gone through three sets (ported and sold to otherlist members) and each set had a divider in each tube cluster. there's pictures of them on http://www.isthq.com/~dan/efi.html

interesting,
I did see the ones in Summit and they are like mine...I wonder why they are different...wonder if that makes the engine "unbalanced" in regards of airflow from one bank of cylinders to the other....
anyone else with SPL runners?

You have the older (first design) SLP runners. They have since replaced that design with the newer design which has dividers in every runner.

that's what I kind of figured...is that "bad" or "good"? I'm sure if they changed the disign it was for a good reason, so the "older" version probably isn't the best, but I can't cry since I only paid 195$ for the runners WITH the HI-FLO edelbrock base....

Thanks guys

Mirage, I asked the people at www.slpeng.com the same question. I never really did get a straight answer. You and I both have the older designed runners. I solved the problem by siamesing all of the runners. Seemed to work great. The new cam (LT4 HC) will liven it up a bit . Check out Dan's site. Good stuff.

I'm thinking of doing that to, but how did you do it? how could you reach all the way inside? Did you do a befor and after test to see if it made any diff??

Thanks

Nope, no before and after test. To do the porting, I have a 3" cylindrical carbide burr and a 6" tree shaped carbide burr. I also used various sized drill bits to remove as much material as I could. The inside radius is not as clean as I would like, but it's better than before. Where my ported plenum with stock runners and base ran out of breath at 4700RPM, I can easily take it to 5500RPM now. I have dyno numbers to back that.

So...Whether or not you have the old or new style SLP runners it is best to take out the entire middle piece? Wont this affect the airflow into the intake base?
