Need help installing headers

What exactly needs to come off on the passenger side.

And..i noticed there is a heat shield to protect the spark plug wires, underneath the exhaust manifold. Will I re-use this?

Any other tips you can give would be appreciated.
thanks

You'll need to drop the starter and install from the bottom. You won't be reusing the heat shields so you may need a different style of plug wires. Make sure you install that orange heat shielding that came w/ the install kit (you did buy it didn't you?) over the electrical wires (may be diff. on a Formula).

good luck,

I installed mine from the top, but it was a real pain. Here's some tips though. When you have to tighten those hard to reach bolts buy a cheap box wrench for them and grind the walls on it really thin. Also for the plugs, if you have trouble getting them in buy a cheap socket for them that has the hex head on the end and grind the socket just short enough that you can still turn the plug with it.
Good luck.

I installed mine from the top as well, the passenger side was the easier one I thought. On the driver's side I just had to unbolt the engine mount and jack it up a little bit. Also, you will definately need to modify your spark plug socket like Paul mentioned, there's no other way to do it.

I just put my slps in my 86 305 ta, the only thing on my passenger side to take off was the altenator and the heat shields, plus i got rid off all the air stuff. you'll need 90 degree boots on your spark plug wires, you wont reuse the heat shields, the slps will slip in from the top, both mine went in really easy. On the drivers side, i moved two brake lines to the outside of the steering shaft and moved my air conditioner compressor to the side and loosened the power steering pump. And all my spark plugs went in with just a spark plug socket or a box end, i didnt have to modify anything.

remember to be coating the manifold bolts with penetrating a couple days in advance, you dont want to break a bolt off, all mine came out fine. Get yourself a new o2 sensor also.

this was the first real mod i ever did to my car, there are some pics on my site if you need to take a look at them, or email me

I got lazy on the spark plug install. Went to sears and bought an 0-ratchet set. plug changes are a snap now.

I did have to use that box end wrench trick for my headers bolts though.
