"Ding" "Ding" Sound

From the title of my thread you can tell that I'm no car guru. Lately when I turn the car off, I hear a "Ding" "Ding" "Ding" "Ding" sound coming from around the intake manifold area. Any idea what that is?

I would think so, after the engine is off, nothing is moving. So I am guessing the engine is just cooling down.

Its normal to hear certain "ticks" and "cracks" after the car is turned off. Its the different metals cooling at different rates sliding past each other very slowly as it cools. Especially motors with lots of aluminum and iron mixed.

Re: "Ding" "Ding" Sound

yeah my L98 does the samething. it's the aluminum and cast iron cooling at different rates. just like verviticas said and it should also do it while it is warming up. i wouldn't be worry unless the car is starting to run different.
