Carb Intake on L98 Block??

Call me Crazy for doing this. But can I put a carb intake on an L98 Block? I have an 83 project car that im working on and I just dont want to mess with the computer this time around. Im working on a vortech 4.3 mpfi
swap for my 89. But i have 4 extra L98s laying around so i thought it would be nice to try something different. If anyone has done this to an L98 what intake do you recomend. mind you this L98 is not stock.

*steel forged crank Balanced and blue printed
*Pro lite AL rods
*Keith Black flat top pistons .30 over
*Lunati roller cam topped with Crane Roller rockers
*deep sump oil pan

this engine is built tough and should handle some pretty wild intakes...

any suggestions on this???

thanks in advance

If you get the aluminum vette heads you can use regular carb intakes,(same heads on ZZ-4)
they're also 58cc if it matters.

You can use a regular carb intake...but it won't look too pretty by the time you're done with it.

The problem with running a standard carb intake on a L98 is that the four center bolt holes of the f body L98 heads are at a 72 degree angle instead of the standard angle on the 86 and older small blocks, so you have to do some grinding on the center holes to get an older intake to bolt up. The vette L98's kept the original bolt angles. However, GM Performance Parts sells a cast iron high rise carb intake that bolts right up to the f body L98 heads. The part number for it is 14097494. If you don't want to modify the bolt holes on an older intake, you can just order this one from GM.
