Next mod.......
Next mod.......
I currently have the mod's in my sig and plan to get some headers next (leaning towards Edelbrock TES or SLP's) after that I'll have about $700 left and I'm trying to decide what I would benefit greatest from: a combination of Afpr/2500 stall/1.6 rr/ported plenum, or save up another $300 and get a set of TF's 195cc TFS heads. I have a stock unported intake, stock 305 chip (which could possible be a 350, the guy I bought it from said it the engine had been replaced with a 350, but I don't know for sure). Any suggestions ?

Your first setup sounds like the best option. You would really be able to actually "feel" some gains if you did those things. I am not too sure but I think that the Trick Flow heads you speak of are for 350's not 305's. You might want to post a question about them on the aftermarket message board. Combustion chamber size would probably lower the hell out of your compression. Stock 305s use a 58cc combustion chamber.
I agree with Mike, the first set of options would benefit you the most. Those heads I think are more for a tricked out 350 or 383with the 195 cc intake chambers. Plus you can pull your heads and check what 4" its a 350, if its 3.74" its a 305.

Is there any other way to tell if it is a 350, I've heard that there are some #'s under the passenger head next to the bellhousing, but is there any other way to tell w/o pulling the heads? BTW if it is a 305 it pulls like a 350 before any mods....and if it isn't i'll be swapping soon. Any comments about the dart Iron Eagle heads? They look like a pretty good value to me.....

If memory serves me, behind the heads, in the valley before the tranny bolts are some casting numbers. You don't have to remove anything, just get a flashlight and climb in the engine compartment. They are on the flat part of the block were the tranny bolts too. I'd say you have to find out if you have a 305 or a 350 before doing anything!
