Can it be done?

I have the LB9 305 TPI with 230 horse. I want to get my car running in the twelves and wondered what your thoughts are. I would like to build up the 305 just to have something different, but if it can't be done, I would swap the engine. I did just read about a stroker kit in Super Chevy's Camaro issue that bumped displacement to 335, but it didn't list performance gains. Just looking for opinions and also what you think it would cost.

I am in the same shoes you are. (I have a 1LE too!).

My car will be in the 12s very soon. You can look at my mods to get an idea..but a 9# ATI intercooled Procharger is what's going to make it happen.

Custom cold air intake w/K&N, SLP airfoil, ported plenum, TB coolant bypass,Crane AFPR (47psi),94 octane,Crane Extruded Alum. 1.6 full roller rockers, Timing set from 4*BTDC to 10*BTDC,MSD coil,MSD6AL, Holley 9mm Annihilator Laser shot 50 wires, Ac Delco cap, rotor and plugs, Bosch O2sensor, SLP 1 5/8 headers,SLP catback,3:73s,JET 195* fan switch, Macewen white face gauges, Autometer gauges, Zoom hi-performance clutch.
Street legal with stock throttle body, runners, intake manifold, cam, and heads. Coming next..9# Procharger!

Thanks, and how much have you spent on your mods so far?

To run high 12's you will need to be making around 300 rwhp and 320+ rwtq. You are also going to need traction. I would suggest Nitto's ($350), full exhaust headers to tailpipe ($900), ignition upgrade like MSD ($100), AS TPI runners ($400), ported L98 aluminum heads ($600) and the proper cam ($300). The stock throttle body is the same size as the LT1 TB. Many LT1's run high 12's with the stock TB. You will want to port/port match the plenum, runners and heads. You will also need some computer tuning. Another more powerful option is Vortec heads when/if the TPI intake is released. I think Vortec's are in my Formula's future. Oh yeah, I also have a 1LE
