LT1 heads on tuned port?

hey guys just wonderin if anybody knows if anyone has put LT1 heads on a L98 with tpi iam toying with the idea. i know you have to block off a couple of water ports on the cylinder side , but on the intake side doesn't have the ports for water flow , but cant they be opened up by useing an intake gasket as a template and drilling them out ??? any feed back be great thanks

Re: LT1 heads on tuned port?

Not worth it, not designed for it, not a good idea. If you want a GenII motor, go that route. Otherwise, stick to the heads that are designed for the GenI.

Here's a post for a 385 stroker w/ an LT1 intake. I myself would use the LT1 intake unless you just like the look of the TPI.

If you read the sticky about lt1 heads you will see they guy who started the thread spent over 2 years trying to acomplish his goal. Read through the thread before you determine if you want to embark on a tedious journey.

Re: LT1 heads on tuned port?

yes the lt1/4 heads can be made to work with the gen1 motor but its not just drilling out the water ports. you have to put a pipe in and make it seal. the water isn't just on the other side and its not worth it since the ports are taller welding and porting would be required of the base and you would have to redrill all the bolt holes on the base plate. i have an old article from somewhere around 94-95 ish ill try to find it, then they came out with the vortec in 95

long story short buy the vortec heads and base. they are an lt1 port with early casting outer
