Signs the FPR is on its way out??
Signs the FPR is on its way out??
i havenot used a guage to measure the pressure, simply becaus ei dont have one. now, it takes forever to start and when it does, that first star stinks like gas, then it goes away and is fine.
th eignition is in my sig and the plugs are ac R45TS i believe gapped @ 45. i realize this gap is bigger than stock but, i have read since i have the 6a and coil, it can overcome hat with no problem

A bad FPR will cause the fuel pressure to be low when the car is running, and it will leak down very quickly when you shut it off. Since you dont have a fuel pressure gage, its kinda hard to check.
When my car doesnt want to start, its usually buildup inside the plenum and throttle body, so I clean it all out and its fine after that. Only other thing I can think of is the cold start injector. I would try cleaning the throttle body first, and go from there. And find someone with a fuel pressure gage.

Just an idea. Pull the vacuum feed to the reg. if gas comes out of it. The FPR is bad.
That causes hard starts and a gas smell.
