Aftermarket maf 45% more air flow.. any good?
Aftermarket maf 45% more air flow.. any good?
Has any1 replaced the maf on their 3rd gen with a grannatelli motorsports maf it says it's good for 10-15 extra horses at the wheels, im thinkin about buying it but its $299.99.... any input?
Also might as well add this, do those tpi air foils that u put in ur intake do anything or are they just a waste of money?

I'm not sure about the maf but for a little bit more money you could convert to a 730 ecu (map sensor) and get a moates ostrich or something to tune your own chips with. Or just get the stuff to tune your car. You would get more out of it than just bolting that maf sensor on.

I'm gona start burning my own chips and have been thinking about getting one of those. it seems like the ajustable signal would be helpfull in tuneing the fuel. plus I've got a 403 ci motor and the extra air flow might be nice. I dont think just bolting that think on a stock motor will give any extra HP. It would most likely help when used with other mods to the motor

Unless something has changed lately, the Granatelli MAF's don't work on TPI cars anyway, only LT-1's (93) and later.
Especially on a stock or stock-ish motor, your MAF is not the bottleneck. And once you have invested in an engine where it would be an issue, as Form'yScott says, you can pretty easily eliminate the whole thing.

From what I have heard mentioned around here many times, there is only so much air that the MAF ecu will recognize and is able to utilize. Giving it a larger MAF will do little to improve power because the MAF won't see it anyway. I plan on swapping to the 730 myself someday after I get the new motor up and running.
