Fuel presure

I have a 91 355 TPI camaro. and I wanted to know how to check my Fuel pressure regulator. I swapped out the TBI for the TPI so I couldnt get the pump to run, so I just put it on a switch. So i put the fuel pressure tester and it reads 45 with switch only and 36-38 with car on. Ok so with the car off and switch only its 45 right? then I turn off witch it goes to 0 really fast. Is my regulator bad?, and how would I test it, or are my injectors leaking. Also my exhaust is making a popping sound and was wondering if that fuel pressure issue has anything to do with it. Help please having a local F-body club meet and car is not doing well. Here is my car http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2662904 It needs paint I know but the important part is the engine first and it aint doing good

Re: Fuel presure

Hi, buddy! I did this test about 2 months go. block fuel supply line by pinching the hose quickly before pressure starts to drop. If holds its some thing in the tank. If still not holding then block the fuel return line by pinching the hose quickly. If it holds then its the regulator, guessing your lines under car okay. And if it dont hold then its injector. Did this to mine and the pressure held when i blocked the return line, replaced the regulator and pressure held after key off for hours. 18.5 is good. when my injector was bad it read like 8.5 and the others were 17,16. Im not a pro but hope this helps you some.
