Fuel Canister relocate...HELP TECHS!

I'm trying to get as much cold air as possible into my car. I've got a scoop installed on the bottom of the car and I'd like to move the fuel canister out of the way so my 4inch tubing can fit nicer. Can the canister be mounted sideways?
Also, I was thinking of making a bracket and mouting it below the frame where it sat before since there is alot of room down there. I think it should be fine down below...any suggestions/comments?
I was thinking of enclosing it in a pot-light-like enclosure and securing it to the frame.)
Thanks in advance!

Try visiting this site and check out Bernard's cold air setup on his Trans Am. It's the featured ride. http://sethirdgen.org/

I did an alteration that calls to cut the battery tray a bit. Works awesome. It howls outta the fenderwell when you first start the car quite loud.

Ron did a nice job with the scoop. Ron, did you re-polish your rims. They look great!

I am pretty sure the only thing that matters is that it remains vertical. I dont think it works right laying on its side.
