Do i need new lifters ? vid inside

Hey guys,

Can any of you TPI guru's diagnose my engine by listening to my video ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OoiyzHhcQk

Ive been told i need new hydraulic lifters to get rid of the loud tapping noise you can hear. All i know is my engine is a bit noisy and i thought these should be smooth sounding but mine kinda sounds like a tractor ! This is my first american car, i dont know much about engines so ive got nothing else to compare it with unfortunatly.

The car seems to run fine, it pulls pretty well when its doing a decent speed, feels a bit slow when accelerating from around 10mph upto 50mph, i dunno if thats just a thing with the 305 engine or not.

i would think that with TPI you would have real good accel up to 60 and then be somewhat slow. It does sound like lifters, or somebody told me that rocker arms when worn out and cannot adjust any more will tap. At one point in the video it sounded like 454 i heard the other day with bad pistons.

if i were you i would pull the valve covers off and reset the valve lash of all your rocker arms. It sounds like a lose rockerarm to me but, it could be a hydraulic lifter that isnt pumping up (stuck). That would also give you a lose rocker arm so be a little careful when adjusting them that you dont adjust 1 to tight if its completly collapsed because, it may very well pump up again at which time you would have a stuck open valve.
