Service light.. need some help!..

Guys,
I unhooked the MAF and took the assembly off. Then i unhooked the IAC to clean it. I also took the distributor cap off so i could take the distibutor out. Well i didn't get around to getting the distro out and i just got my prom stuff together, so i through the cap back on, plugged everything back on and tried it with the stock prom(with stock memcal). Then i tried "my" prom with a different memcal(they are both soldered in). Before i took the MAF/IAC out, the car would run without the service light. But after this i can't get it to run without the service light on. To compound the problems i tried to adjust the IAC and now it runs at 1500rpm and my autometer gauge says i'm running way rich now for some reason.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brendan

Oh yea, when i try to pull the codes i can't get the service light to turn off and start the diagnostic mode what so ever. I'm sure this has to be part of the problem. Bad computer ?
Even without jumping the A and B terminals the service light will not turn off when its on the ignition is in the ON position.

I can't tell from your message how it ran with the stock PROM. Was it behaving correctly?

It almost sounds like the problem didn't start until you swapped PROMs. The symptoms you described sound like it's running in "limp home" mode, like the image you burned to the chip is defective. No ALDL mode, high but stable idle speed, very rich combustion are consistent with "limp home" behavior.

Something wrong with your PROM. Not getting a code 12 says it all.

Time to reburn. Make sure the checksum is ok, theres checksum programs floating around. I have one from Tunercat.

I just swapped a prom that is stock that has vats enabled. Still has the factory sticker on top of the eprom window so i know that chip is ok. The car would still not give me 12's at all on the diagnostic mode. Could it possible be a bad computer or maybe something wired wrong. I haven't had the car for very long so i don't know all of its history. It has a car alarm which seems to work just fine. Could that be part of this?

I dont think its anything besides the ECM or prom. Check the wires, move them around, make sure none of the pins under the prom are bent or damaged. If there is no code 12, thats where the problem lies.
