EGR question

Would running the car without the EGR have anithing to do with emissions testing? I mean would my car pass inspection w/out EGR?
thanks

I have a car that passes without it. Really you can pass without anything if the car is tuned right. The cat is the most effective of all the emissions control devices though.

See, I'm new to the whole EFI/Emissions control thing. Also I live in NY(no problem) but my car is registered in PA(cheap ins.). I'm not sure how strict they are in PA.
My cats seem fine and my car got the sticker last april.
The thing I noticed is many people talk about mods that might or might not make a car un-inspectable. I'm just wondering cause I'm from the old school of thought(carbs and no 'puters).Getting the most performance from TPI, while retaining emissions, does have me intrigued.

Well what you usually run into is a car in a bad state of tune, or it fails visual. FI is much easier IMO to get to pass a sniffer test than a carbed car. It just has more accurate fuel control.

So basically what you are saying is that the EGR is not vital to inspection(sticker), considering the car is tuned well and w/all other emission stuff in good repair?
