Help with custom tpi set up
Help with custom tpi set up
Hey guys, I need some advice/help with a tpi conversion. Heres what I am working with. 355 sbc, with a set of dart 165 heads, Running a stock LT1 cam with 1.6 rockers and a holley stealth ram. The car has a painless harness and MAF, running the stock 87 165 computer and (I cant rember the prom id) but the prom is for an 87 5.7 tpi. Since the new intake has no provision for the CSI I ditched it as well as all the emmissions. (car is a 79 btw). From all my reading here I assume the best way for me to go is with the $6E bin. Heres my delema, should I find someone to burn me a chip with the 6E bin and no vats ( I have been hunting around for the bin image with no luck) or should I just go and scrap up the $ for the AutoProm Package: from moates and buy their bin. I have no plans for doing alot of chip burning , I think the kit might be over kill.
any opions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you are going to build a custom TPI, you need to be able to tune it.
Another vote for Moates.
Craig (Moates) doesn't sell BINs, They are free for download from his site.

Ops, Sorry about the mistake. I have been doing so much reading on so many sites Ive gotten confused. Its http://www.tunercat.com/tnr_desc/ecm_sup.html who is selling the bin images.
TexasSilhouette, I do agree with you that I need to be abol to tune it but on the flip side if I ever do this again it will be be either an LT1 conversion or an LS conversion and it appears that the kit I am looking at wont do the LT PCM so I need to hunt and see (unless someone already knows and I havent found it yet) a kit that will be abol to do both. I emailed Moates to see if in face the CABL2 OBD2-Style ALDL Connector will interface and I am waiting for a reply

Check out the sticky in DIY Prom section at top.
It's the best place to start you can find. I knew NOTHING till I found this site a couple years ago.

Any Moates equipment you get, you can later sell at a small depreciation to somebody on this board. Just food for thought.
