Anyone tried hooking up a fan in front of the radiator? Something to pull air in at idle.

Lots of people do it, but fans work much more efficiently behind the radiator in pull mode. The fan creates a low pressure area at the radiator fins which pulls outside air in. This flows much more air than trying to push it through the fins.

I have a 88 Cadillac Seville and it has a puller fan behind the radiator and a pusher fan in front of it. I thought it was a interesting set-up.
