Help Altenator Bracket
Help Altenator Bracket
I am working on putting a 88/89 TPI on my 87 Monte Carlo SS I have the Edelbrock High flow intake and the SLP runners. I am slowly piecing this thing together. My problem is when I went to put the altenator braket on the bracket sits about 1/2 inch away from the runner when bolted on the water pump. is ther a spacer in there or something? A close up picture would be GREAT if any one had one. Thanks in advance!!!!

Are you using the serpentine or V belt setup? I am guessing it's V belt since that's what the 87 Camaros had. If I remember right, it's a special bolt that's goes in that hole which has a "spacer" built in. I'll see if I can find a picture.
I couldn't find it in my parts book. It should be a stud actually and then a nut that goes on the end over the alt bracket. The 88+ TPI uses a serpentine bracket which doesn't bolt up to the runners so it's not a bolt/stud that would come with the 88 setup.

Yes I will be using the 87 V belt set up. I have the serpentine set up but I am going to wait until I put the 383 in for that. That way I won't need to change my water pump either. Right now I am just going to test and tune a little on the 305. I rather have failure on that then my big motor. It looks like I will be needing to machine a little aluminum spacer or some extra washers. Thank you.
