question about accel runners

I have a 1988 TA, so it is MAF. I dont want to get into the MAF vs. SD debate, I just want to know if the Accel runners for the SD setup will work with my car. Thanks.

Re: question about accel runners

No if you want to still use the ninth injector for starting. However if the car is pretty stock you could get the 1989 model $6E program for your computer and do away with the ninth injector. The MAF 1989 model does not use the ninth injector so it is not just a SD versus MAF thing.

Re: question about accel runners

So what you're saying is that the only way I can make it work is to reprogram my PROM? What is the reason behind that, do the runners cover up where the cold start injector is or something?

Re: question about accel runners

If the runners are indeed for the speed density setup then there is no provision or the ninth injector. However if you installed the prom for a 1989($6E) car you do not need the ninth injector.

Re: question about accel runners

No, the '89 chip is a MAF setup. But it also has VATS so it wont work. You can run your '88 chip without a 9th injector, but it will not squirt extra fuel if the temp is less than 40 degrees F. Unless you live in extreme cold climates, you're fine. But removing the 9th injector is not a simple task, so you're better off searching for 85-88 runners.
