Vader, Gm Tech....anybody!!
I've got a reoccuring problem that NOBODY seems to be able to solve. I've had my IROC into the Chev dealership 3 times and they can't solve the problem. The car SOMETIMES won't start. Yet you come back an hour or sometimes a day later....starts like new. When it doesn't start it spins quickly...like a broken timing belt (which is new)...like leaking compression...(new engine). Also after an attempted start you can hear the fuel pump running for about 15 sec and you can hear the egr valve doing something for about the same length of time. Could the egr be bad porting compression to atmosphere? It can't be wiring since sometimes it works....sometimes it doesn't...just while sitting. When it was at Chev they said that it had spark and fuel pressure was good. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

Does it spin quickly (the starter is spinning but not engaging)? Or is the engine CRANKING quickly (like no compression)? If the starter is spinning (but no engine cranking) then the starter might not be engaging the flywheel/flexplate due to a bad starter solenoid or mechanical binding.
