SLP T-RAM Dyno Numbers
SLP T-RAM Dyno Numbers
I made a total of 6 pulls the first was the worst and the 6th was the best. I would have done more tuning/pulls but my time was up. The peak numbers are not as high as I was expecting, but I am pleased with the profile of the curves. The heads are out of the box trick flows, cam numbers are .488I, .509E, 214degreesI, 222degreesE, and 400 miles on new ZZ4 short block with approximately 9.6 to 1 C/R. Are these hp and trq numbers comparable to Super Ram numbers with equivalent heads, cam and C/R?
The dyno guy said they typically see 20 to 23% parasitic losses with automatic equiped cars. This equates to 360 to 375 hp and 435 to 450 ft pds of trq at the fly wheel.

...what size throttle body are you using? I'm running a 58mm on my t-ram, and found that the intake holes on the plenum were only 52mm...so I have opened them up. My last best dyno was was 291 hp with the t-ram, TFS twisted wedge heads, and a mild SLP cam. Just switched to the 23 degree heads, a more aggressive cam and did some port matching. After I replace the chip, I'll put it on the dyno again to see what she picked up...am hoping for around 310-320 at the rear wheels...

Interesting numbers, almost deja-vue 8-)
My car has the hi-flo TPI, ZZ4 long block,
and LT4 HOT cam and pulled almost the
exact numbers..

Good numbers for a 350!!!! I take it some computer tuning was done to it?

Jimbo, its good to here from another T-RAM owner. Im using a hybrid Arizona speed and Marine T.B. 87 housing with 92 linkage cam. I haven't port matched the plenum to the tb yet. But because my transmission grenaded the day after dyno testing I have plenty of time now. I was hoping to fine tune on the dyno but spent most of the time chasing an extremly lean 17 to 1 A/F ratio. I had to set the TPS base voltage at .47 volts to get proper fuel enrichment at full throttle. It responded nicely on the 5th pull adding 30 hp across the board from 5 to 6000 RPM. I'm sure with a little more tuning and a fresh tranny it will put out about 300hp at the rear wheels.
87"zya I had a hyper crap chip (FREE BEE), then purchased a Ed Wright Fast Chip. Installing the Fast chip made a huge difference, but the $350.00 price tag was hard to swallow. I am learning that there is a lot of tuning that can be done with the stock sensor inputs.
85 Mike TPI - Yes, your numbers are similar, although it seems that the T-ram has a wider torque and hp band.

Nice numbers man I love that broad power curve.
I've got a 91 Formula, 350TPI, 1.6 rockers,no smog crap, mufflex 3.5 catback, underdrive pulleys, aluminum driveshaft, TCI street fighter trans with a 2200 stall, AS&M semi siemese runners w/ported plenum and base, AFPR set to 45psi, and a PR chip getting 7degrees of knock retard. 1/4mi=14.33@94 RWHP=261 RWTQ=345
Anyone else have numbers to compare?

Wow, that's weird. I have the exact same dyno numbers as 91RamAir Formula, but with about 30* of knock retard (stock chip - being modified soon) and a much faster trap speed. I ran it for the first time yesterday, and only got one run in. After smoking the tires all the way through first gear (2.41 60'
) I ran a 14.2 @ 103 MPH. If I can get some traction I should be running a mid 13 I'm guessing.

i made 243 RWHP and 342 ftlbs at the rears. Granted it was not it track trim at the time of the dyno run. i ran a 13.62 @ 102 (this will improve a good bit this season). That was with the intake iced and my cold air setup installed and a few other track tricks. I am sure that if i ran octain booster and with my 1.6 roller rockers and the intake iced i would be close to 260 hp at the rears. We will find out here pretty soon.

I was also curious, how are you all dyno'ing
your auto-trans cars? My dyno shop had
never did a non-BMW auto (where they can
turn off downshifts) and they ended up
unhooking my TV cable. I have since heard
that this is a "bad thing". Any tips?
My car consistantly turns 12.9 @ 106 ETs
and it seems I have equal/lower dyno numbers
from others posting here? I'm wondering if
the TV cable unhooked was causing lower
dyno numbers?
thanks

85 Mike tpi- My runs were made in drive with the T-V cable unhooked. I think you may be correct that unhooking the T-V cable is a " BAD THING". I noticed the converter slipping alot while trying to lock up wich it never did on the street.

The 1/4 mi times were last year before the intake, AFPR, exhause, pulleys, d-shaft so hopefully will be in the 13's w/ some traction. I had a 2.02 60'.
When they dyno'd my car they ran through first and second easily and when the RPM's are above the downshift point they would nail it, usually when the converter locks up the dyno computer takes that as a shift and starts the run at like 3600 but once it did not detect the lockup and I made peak TQ @2600.

It should be run in 3rd gear or whatever gear has 1-1 ratio. The tv cable should not be unhooked it lowers line pressure and is a good way to fry clutches. They should run it up pretty far in 2nd and tird should be where it is opened up to wot, the car should not kick down to second.

I agree with you on that. Would love the Dana but the money is a little steep. I can't see how Ford sells the 8.8 for cheap and all th GM guys get is a choice between the 12 bolt or a (Dare I say it)Ford 9 inch. I have an older ('87 I say older cause I got it in 87 for my '82 TA)700R4 with a 3000 Art Carr non-lockup. I will probabally use until I can build up the stock one I have in the car right now. Lock-ups were removed in the past but things have changed.
