85 TPI 305 to 350

Hi all. Can I use the 85 corvett ecm and knock sensor with my wiring harness? I am wanting to use about a 300 hp 350. I thought about the GM 350/290hp crate engine. Any ideas? I really dont want to change all the wiring out.

Yes you can,but why?-85 Vette have same ecm,esc module and knock sensor as your -85 f-body tpi.Prom is different than your 305 tpi prom.

Re: 85 TPI 305 to 350

I was just wondering how to get a 350 knock sensor for that year. I see everyone saying you have to change the sensor when you swap from 305 to 350. I dont want to start changing out wiring harness and stuff like that. I can rebuild the 305 but thought the 350 would be better.

Does anyone know what is the largest cam duration at .050 that can be use on stock computers for the 305 and 350 TPI motors? I am going with flat tappet hyd cam. My car is a 85'.

i was told to stay under 210 @ .050 with stock prom. but i used a slp 204/214 .420/.442 in my 305 and it ran ok with the stock chip i did change the chip later but it ran ok with the stock one

Re: 85 TPI 305 to 350

Here is a link I found a while back that gave a quick overview of what is needed to swap froma 305 to 350. Not sure about your cam question though, sorry. For the most part though, the MAF cars can deal with the motor changes a bit better than the speed density ones.

Re: 85 TPI 305 to 350

Thanks for the info. I plan on using 350 shortblock from a local engine rebuild shop with flat top pistons. I have been looking at the Brodix IK 200 heads from Jegs. So using the vette prom chip and maybe the Crane Powermax 2040 cam, 2400 stall and 3.42 limitedslip, this thing should run pretty good for a daily driver.
