Best lowend/midrange...Vortecs vs. WP Sportsman IIs...

I'm looking for low/midrange power. I dont need to go over 5500 RPM and risk breaking parts. The Vortecs, I believe, are much better for midrange because of the smaller (170cc) intake runners, rather than the Sportsman IIs 220cc. Am I correct in this assumption?

Yes you are correct. The Vortec's will keep the velocity up in the port which helps torque. The Vortec's also have a better combustion chamber design so they are more efficient.

what about the S/R torquers? they have 170cc runners and the pre 87 come with 67cc chambers. i called WP and they told me u can machine the 2 inner intake bolts and the rest is a direct bolt up. also have 2.02 1.60 valves....
