400$'s to spend

i have a completely stock 305 iroc convertible and i was wondering what are some mods i can afford to do with about $400 to spend. i was thinking about k&n's and an air foil maybe a hooker cat-back but i'm not sure what would give me the most performance for my money any help would be appreciated

How many miles? Some times the best mod is a good tune-up, depending on the last time it was done. Other than that, go with the cat-back and I'm not sure what to do with what's left. Probably K&N's to support future mods, although they'll do little for a stock setup.

Wait a minute, I just re-read the word "convertible". Buy some subframe connectors and have them welded in. If there's any money left, buy a Dynomax cat-back since they're inexpensive.

The chassis structure of the convertibles is weaker than that of the coupes, which is already not too hot to say the least. Your doors may begin to sag over time, and other cracks can form in the sheetmetal as well. The best thing you can do is a search on the Suspension/Chassis/Brakes section for "SFC" and "subframe connectors". You'll get more information out of that than I can think of. Many companies make them, Spohn, Alston, Hotchkis, Jeg's, Competition Engineering, etc. I think prices of most sets are under $200, but once you include labor to get them welded in you should be closer to your budget. Hope this helps.
