MAF relys

ok i put on a new MAF sensor before winter, i drove the car a few miles 3 days ago. Keep in mind i bought it just before winter. It would idle when started then at red lights etc it would idle real low or stall. I bought the new MAF sensor and the check engine light went off, then just the other day, i drove to a friends house. When i came back out it wouldn't idle at all. This happened before, when i got to drive it a little before winter, even after the new MAF sensor. but this time the CHECK ENGINE light came on with a code 34. I went inside called a few people came back out and it idled and the check engine light was off. I went to the parts store to buyt the two relys for the MAF sensor thinking that was the problem and when i said burn-off rely they told me no such thing, so i got the numbers off a rely right next to the rely labled MAF power, and the number came up with a MAF rely, so i replaced those two, there was another rely next to those two on the firewall but it had no numbers on it, what rely is that? and my car is still not idling good, it either will idle alittle over 1000 or alittle under 800 like around 600, sometimes it idles right but not often, usually when first started its fine but then a red light appears it its jumps all around. ANY HELP AT ALL i would really appreciate. Thanks ps Sorry its so long

The other relay there is your fuel pump relay, it's up to you if you want to change it or not. Placement of the relays varies, some people have the two MAF relays next to each other, some have the power and burnoff relays on opposite sides of the fuel pump relay than others, but chances are the one in the middle is your fuel pump relay. Turn your key on and you should be able to hear it click over.

Good point Ron, thanks. Some other things to check for are: Vacuum leaks in the MAF ducting, corroded contacts on the MAF connector, like Ron said, TPS voltage set correctly..... I'll let you know if I can think of any others

Incorrect TPS Voltage can cause code 34?
I've had code 34 on constantly for the last 3 months!

What else can cause that??? It's driving me nuts!!!

p.s. my burn off relay is brand new and all relays are functional - i tested 'em all by plugging them into the fuel pump relay and seeing if it pumped gas or not

Do you have a part number for the burn off rely? What you have labeled as your driving lamp rely i thought was my burn off rely, i read the numbers off the rely and it came back as MAF, but so did the one next to it. Let me know thanks

87,

Just exchange the MAF power relay and the burnoff relay. If the code changes from a '34' to a '36' you know one of the relays is bad.
