Newbie TPI questions
Hi everyone. I have obtained a TPI intake for my S-10 V8 project. I will be using an Electromotive TECII to control it so my question pertains to hardware only. The intake I have is off of an 85 vette I believe. I think it has the cold start provisions in the runners. The aftermarket runners I've seen all say for 89 up or something like that. Now, can I bolt these runners to my older intake? Keep in mind, I don't need the cold start injector so I don't car if it won't work with that, but is there any other difference between the early and late intakes?
**edit**
One more question. I'm pondering building a 383 for this truck. I want it to be fast, but it will be daily driven and will tow my car. Can a TPI with aftermarket runners and ported plenum and base support 400 hp of 383 at less than 6000 rpm? Or am I wasting the shortblock with a choked down intake?
Thanks for your help.

The parts will all bolt up the same, I'm not
sure about the egr stuff though with corvette versus camaro stuff. Shouldn't be a real problem with an engine swap project though.

The later runners will bolt on to the early base. Those wern't aftermarket runners you were looking at, were they? I don't recommend using aftermarket runners with a stock base or vice-versa. At least port the base and plenum while they're off. If you change one, change both. You'll need to have the PROM programmed to not use the cold-start injector, if it's and '88-earlier PROM. You'll also need a fuel rail that does not use one or plug the early type rail (where it exits for the cold-start injector). I never ran a motor without EGR, but I believe you can block it off and also program the PROM not to use it (regardless of year). TPIS sells block off plates, I don't know if anybody else does.
